Council of Ministers Approves Draft Decision On Holiday Homes

July 28, 2021

In anticipation of the upcoming World Cup 2022, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 the Council of Ministers approved a draft decision that would permit holiday homes to be treated as hotel establishments. Pursuant to the decision holiday homes would be regulated by Law No. 20 of 2018 which regulates tourism.

The term “holiday homes” is a reference to furnished residential housing units with utilities. A holiday home may be a room or rooms in a villa, apartment, camp, or house. According to the decision the space may also be divided into several areas. Accommodation at a holiday home may be rented on a daily or weekly basis provided that the total rental period does not exceed thirty consecutive days.

The decision should increase the accommodation options available to tourist and fans during the sporting event next year.
