Gulf Cooperation Council Ministers Agree Timetable For Establishing GCC Railways Authority

During a recent extraordinary meeting held via video conference, the Gulf Cooperation Council (“GCC”) ministers of transport and communication in the GCC countries agreed the timetable for establishing the GCC Railways Authority as part of the plan to connect the GCC countries by passenger, freight, and cargo railways.

The focus of the meeting was implementing the decision of the 42nd session of the Supreme Council of the GCC approving the establishment of the GCC Railways Authority as part of an overall strategy to boost joint investments by developing the integration of road, rail and communications networks among the GCC countries. The meeting also discussed the documentation required to establish the authority.
