Senior Associate – Arbitration

Sultan Al-Abdulla & Partners (“SAP”) is looking for talented professionals to fill Senior Associate level position in our arbitration department. Senior Associates at SAP interact with and lead assigned junior members of the department to provide the best legal services to SAP’s clients. Senior Associates are responsible for distributing and overseeing assignments to junior staff, reviewing and endorsing legal research, drafting documents and pleadings, attending client and expert meetings, and coaching junior staff to develop their legal skills. The job description and responsibilities for a Senior Associate at SAP encompass, without limitation, the following:

  • Working on a diverse portfolio of complex and high value, domestic and cross-border arbitration cases.
  • Drafting and filing arbitration pleadings, initiating proceedings and other tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinating with Partners and team members regarding strategy.
  • Supervising Associates when needed
  • Reviewing and preparing legal documents such as agreements, pleadings, motions and settlement agreements and ensuring that all documents comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Communicating with clients and updating them on the progress of their cases.
  • Gathering and managing evidence relevant to arbitration cases, including witness statements, documents, and exhibits to support the clients’ positions.
  • Staying updated on developments in arbitration laws, rules, and procedures to provide clients with the most current and relevant advice.
  • Assisting other team members as necessary.
  • Handling multiple legal matters simultaneously and independently.
  • Candidate Abilities:
  • Significant international arbitration expertise.
  • Able to cooperate and work in a team.
  • Excellent drafting and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in managing cases and dealing with clients.
  • Working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Candidate requirements and qualifications:

  • 6 – 8 years PQE
  • Accredited law degree
  • Substantive experience in construction law and disputes
  • Common Law qualified
  • Qualification as a barrister in England & Wales is an advantage.
  • Middle East experience is a plus.
  • Strong legal knowledge and capability to comprehend complex matters and identify the laws that are applicable to them.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others and to lead and develop junior staff.
  • Capacity to organise, prioritise and supervise work.
  • Demonstrable client service orientation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Languages:

  • English Is a must
  • Arabic speaking ability is an advantage
